Research Updates

This page is for the updates to my current research project. This project is on the Gupta Empire of 3rd-7th century India and focuses on how powerful materials influenced the growth of the empire.

I'm onto the second chapter of edits and I'm happily plodding along with them! They'll get there... eventually.

Well, we're onto chapter 3 now so I guess that must be progress (right?! Please tell me that's progress...)

Lo-fi hip-hop is on and I'm happily vibing away as I stare down the dreaded longest chapter of the thesis

09/01/2021:

I have officially completed my MPhil and have started my PhD!

It's been a rough ride the past while but now getting back into the fray! Started a PhD journal to keep track of what I've been doing day to day and I'm hoping it works! For the first time in my life, I'm using a paper diary properly (oh god, I'm time managing!) and I've been working on it day to day! So, for now, we're in a state of calm and getting ready for the new year!

01/02/2021:

My current work is gaining a better understanding of theory and creating a robust methodology for my project. This will probably take a few months. I'm currently trying out a new note-taking technique. So far, it's been really useful. 

12/02/2021:

Still reading, still note-taking, still learning what on earth archaeology is. The new note-taking technique is proving beneficial so that's a bonus! Starting out on writing the first draft of something for my PhD on Monday (I am very excited and very nervous!)

05/05/2022:

It's been WELL over a year since I updated this page... Well, here it goes. I've gone part time, I've finished and am now editing my theory chapter (currently titled Empire and Archaeology). Moving on to the Textiles chapter (Probably) in the next few weeks. Things are moving but whether or not they're in a good way, it's forwards nevertheless!
